wed 8.26.09 You Don’t Know Me! End of Summer Benefit Party presented by Gigantic/Opium/BOMB Magazines at Bowery Electric. Performers included Ben Greenman and Bob Powers, who directed short plays; The Dog House Band, featuring bluegrass musician/writers David Gates and Sven Birkerts with special guest John Wesley Harding; a DJ set by Catherine Pierce of The Pierces and a performance from Kalup Linzy.

thu 7.30.09 Gigantic participated at Opium Magazine’s Literary Deathmatch at the Bowery Poetry Club. New York, NY. Gigantic contributor Yuka Igarashi competed.

tue 6.09.09 Gigantic was a part of CLMP Periodically Speaking: Literary Magazine Editors Introduce Emerging Writers at the New York Public Library. Gigantic Co-editor Ann DeWitt introduced Gigantic contributor Adam Wilson.

sun 5.31.09 Gigantic was a part of CLMP Lit Mag Fair at Housing Works Bookstore, New York, NY.

sat 5.16.09 Gigantic held the Gigantic Microreading which was featured at 2009 LitCrawl NYC Festival at Home Sweet Home in New York, NY. Readers and artistic presenters included Tao Lin, James J. Williams III, Yuka Igarashi, Ben Blum, Andrew Bulger and Matt Di Paoli. Suzanne Pettypiece wrote an article about the event in Poets & Writers and there is also a video which includes Tao Lin’s reading and a brief interview with Gigantic Co-editor James Yeh.

sat 4.25.09 Gigantic held its Debut Launch Party and Benefit at Starr Space in Brooklyn, NY. Readers included Justin Taylor, Adam Wilson, Anya Yurchyshyn, Kristen O’Toole, Lauren Spohrer, and Kenny Aquiles, along with a cartoon presentation from Todd Zuniga, music from Adron and The Five Cents, and DJ sets from King Vitamin, Cormac McBootay, and DJ HemingYeh.

fri 4.17.09 Gigantic was featured as part of Should I Look at It? 222/Genius Salon: Group Show at Envoy Gallery in New York, NY.

On this day copies of Gigantic first became available for sale in stores.
